A & J Speelman Ltd Oriental Art
36A Kensington Square, London, W8 5HP
A & J Speelman has been established at 129 Mount Street in Mayfair, London since 1976, and as a family antiques business stretching back three generations to 19th-century Holland. The Speelman brothers, grandfather and great uncle of the present proprietor Jules Speelman, extended into England around the turn of the century, trading in a range of antiques from premises at 180 Wardour Street, London W1. Jules Speelman’s father Alfred followed in their footsteps, and eventually established a gallery in Kensington Church Street, where he was joined by his son in 1964, at which point a gradual focus towards Asia began. The gallery now specialises in Asian antiques, with a particular emphasis on sculpture and works of art from the past 2,000 years. The scope is eclectic and diverse, with a concentration on rarity and quality. The collections are particularly strong in Chinese works of art, as well as Chinese decorative arts covering cloisonné and Canton enamels, lacquer, ivories, soap stones, hard stones, carvings in wood, bamboo, porcelain, pottery and Chinese export ceramics and works of art. A speciality of the firm is figurative sculpture, from the terracotta tomb figurines of the Han and Tang dynasties of the first millennia AD, to bronzes depicting figures from the Buddhist and Taoist pantheon, both gilt and ungilt, in stone, wood and stucco, of small collectible size to the large and important. Himalayan bronzes from Tibet and Nepal are particularly well represented. The great glory and primary artistic legacy to world art from India and South East Asia is their sculptural tradition in stone and bronze. The gallery carries an important representative group in these areas, primarily from the Pala and Chola dynasties of India, and Pre Khmer and Khmer works from Cambodia, with further examples covering Central India, Kashmir and Thailand.

Abbott and Holder Ltd
30 Museum Street, London, London, WC1A 1LH, England
Abbott and Holder’s founders Robert Abbott and Eric Holder first began dealing in partnership in 1936 and for over seventy years it has been the gallery’s policy to stock pictures that are within the means of as broad a section of the population as possible. While much of their stock is priced between £100 and £5000 a £50 and under box is still kept, which is a direct descendant of the five shilling box from the 1950s. After the Second World War Robert Abbott’s house in Barnes was used as the gallery for the rapidly increasing stock and it was at this time that Abbott and Holder’s seven-weekly Lists were first launched as a means of introducing and publicising new acquisitions. The house became popular with enthusiasts and customers were encouraged to take their time over decisions and to make as many visits as they needed to get to know the staff and the stock, the same is true of the gallery today which is now located on Museum Street opposite the British Museum. The partnership remained a family matter when the founder’s nephew, John Abbott, joined Eric Holder from 1971 to 1981. In 1984 Philip Athill became a partner having worked as an, assistant at the gallery after read reading art history at the University of East Anglia. On the retirement of John Abbott in 2001 Abbott and Holder became a limited company and Philip Athill is now the gallery’s Managing Director. Today over 1,000 pictures are on view at the gallery, all marked and priced and while it is necessary to ring the door bell, once admitted and the layout briefly explained, visitors are left to explore at will and the staff are on hand to answer any questions.

Alan Walker
Halfway Manor, Halfway, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8NR, England
Alan Walker has been a leading internationally-known specialist in antique barometers and related instruments for over 20 years. He purchases and, if necessary, restores all of the instruments that form his stock, working from spacious premises near Newbury, Berkshire, some 60 miles west of London. His stock may be viewed at the antique fairs where he regularly exhibits or by appointment near Newbury. The barometer has been an integral part of the British domestic scene since the early part of the 18th century. Initially a valuable tool in the domestic and agricultural decision-making of the British aristocracy, antique stick and wheel barometers, especially the Georgian examples, have now become highly-prized complements to today's fine antique reception room furniture. Alan’s passion for these charming, elegant and practical pieces of scientific and domestic social history is immediately apparent. His extensive selection of primarily Georgian barometers offers a comprehensive and unrivalled range of 18th- and 19th-century stick and wheel barometers - in the main, London-made - together with scientific, marine and aneroid barometers and barographs from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Throughout the centuries, Treasures of the East have been discovered in London museums and art galleries, originally brought here by wealthy families moving to London, bringing their treasures, heirlooms and heritage with them. Within these collections, there are beautiful examples of fine European tapestries and exquisite central Persian carpets from the Safevid period, similar to exhibits at the British Museum, which houses the same styles. The finest of silk weavings from Isfhan can also be found. A special, limited collection of these fabulous Eastern Treasures has been brought to you – directly from the Shiraz region, straight to our gallery in Marylebone. Altea Gallery Ltd
35 St George Street, London, W1S 2PN
We offer a wide selection of superb antique maps, sea charts and atlases covering all parts of the world. Our stock ranges from the early printed maps of 1477 to about 1900; from miniature maps to large scale / wall maps, atlas produced maps and separately published broadsheets. Massimo De Martini started trading as “Altea Maps” in 1992, exhibiting at the “Bonnington Antique Map Fair” which was held in London on a monthly basis as well as various other antique and book fairs. As his business grew he acquired a shop in Camden Passage, one of the longest established London antique markets. Two years later he moved to a more central gallery space on Regent Street and more recently to the present location at the new “Altea Gallery”, in the heart of London’s Mayfair, opposite the Sotheby’s building. Over the years he has earned a reputation for supplying high quality maps and atlases, at fair prices, to first-time buyers, experienced collectors and institutions all over the world. In 1995 he led the “internet revolution” being among the first dealers in the map trade to offer a fully illustrated online map catalogue. We have always been very proud of this achievement, and as the leading force on the internet we became a point of reference for dealers and were copied many times over throughout the world. Nowadays there are large numbers of internet sites offering antique maps as well as e-bay and online auctions. However, to our knowledge, only a handful of dealers can supply their customers with an exceptional item backed up by a full guarantee. We all too often hear of horror stories experienced by unwary buyers misled by erroneous descriptions, reproductions and bad quality items available from unscrupulous dealers on the internet. So we maintain our goal to provide the best possible quality and value for money to our clientele whilst helping them to build their prized map collection for many years to come. We are members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association, the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, the International Map Collector's Society, the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association and the International Antiquarian Mapsellers Association We are joint organisers of the yearly “International London Map Fair”, which we host in June at the Royal Geographical Society. We are also exhibitors and active sponsors of the Miami International Map Fair, which is held every year in early February.

Amherst Antiques
The Edenbridge Galleries, 1 The Square, Church Street, Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 5BD, England
Amherst Antiques specialise in 18th- to 20th-century Tunbridge Ware, a marquetry technique developed in the Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells area of Kent. Their stock includes rare and interesting examples of Tunbridge Ware, which provide exciting choices for the collector. The business was started by Dianne Brick, the daughter of a fine art auctioneer. Dianne was brought up in an environment involving antiques and has been dealing under the Amherst Antiques name since 1985. She operated initially from her own shop at Sevenoaks in Kent, where she became known for her quality 19th-century ceramics & Tunbridge Ware. It was during this time that, together with her husband Ivor, she also exhibited at many of the major antiques fairs such as those at Olympia and the NEC. In 2000 she decided to close the shop and concentrate on the fairs. This provided Dianne with a further opportunity to pursue her interest in Tunbridge Ware more fully. This has now resulted in her working time being devoted exclusively to this fascinating subject and in her organising an annual programme of events for collectors. All who come into contact with Dianne are struck by her enthusiasm for her subject and the breadth of her knowledge. In 2007 Dianne & Ivor were invited to join Lennox Cato at his new venture, The Edenbridge Galleries, where they actively promote their Tunbridge Ware, welcoming collectors both from the local area and from further a-field.

Andrew Dando
PO Box 5210, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, BA15 5BW, England
Andrew Dando is the third generation to run an antiques business, in his case based in the historic riverside town of Bradford-upon-Avon, and specialises in English pottery and porcelain, with an emphasis on Staffordshire items. Amongst Andrew Dando’s stock can be found 18th- and 19th-century English porcelain from the factories of Bow, Worcester, Derby and Minton, together with Spode and Staffordshire pottery. There is also a selection of Continental pieces ranging from tableware in the form of sauceboats and plates to more decorative pieces. Andrew’s grandfather, also Andrew, began trading in 1915 from Midsomer Norton as a general antique dealer, and after serving in the Great War, moved his business to Bath. In 1947 the company supplied a Hepplewhite secretaire bookcase which was a wedding gift for HRH Princess Elizabeth and HRH Prince Philip from the city of Bristol. It was filled with Bristol porcelain and glass. Andrew’s son Gordon worked in the business for many years before handing the mantel on to his own son Andrew. Both Gordon and Andrew have served as regional representatives to the BADA Council and Andrew, together with his wife Janice, is a regular exhibitor at a number of antiques fairs across the country. He is also a vetter at many antiques fairs and was the first ceramics dealer based outside London to win the ‘Best Specialist Dealer’ award (ceramics section) at the British Antique & Collectables Awards (BACA). The business has also featured in the Independent newspaper’s list of the Fifty Best Antiques Shops in the UK.

Anthea A G Antiques Ltd
Stand 154-155, Grays Antiques Centre, 58 Davies Street, London, W1K 5LP, England
Anthea A G Antiques Ltd is run by Anthea Gesua with the help of Gaby Ruthven and has been in Grays Antiques Centre, London, since the early 1980s. They deal in pretty gem set jewellery from the 19th to the 21st centuries, with a selection of signed pieces from the important jewel houses. They carry a varied stock including a selection of men's cufflinks and ladies diamond watches, as well as good period rings and earrings. Anthea grew up with a mother who was an avid collector of antiques including jewellery which is what initially sparked her interest. After training as a teacher, she was so drawn to antique jewellery that the benefits of a teaching career could not compete with the pleasure she derived from beautiful antiques, so she decided to pursue her interest in jewellery. The company initially developed as a trade oriented business, but has since grown its retail business, whilst happily continuing to look after English and overseas trade customers. Anthea exhibits at all the most popular fairs including Olympia, The Antique Dealers Fair, LAPADA and recently at the BADA Fair. Fairs have always been an important aspect of the company’s year, where they meet old and new customers but more importantly, keep abreast of an ever-changing market.

Antichità Rita Tuci
Antichità Rita Tuci
Via Roma, 31, Trana, 10090 Metropolitan City of Turin, Italy
The genesis of Rita Tuci's work in the realm of antique stovery may be traced to her formative years at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Florence, Italy, where in the 1970's she studied a variety of disciplines (including, but not limited to, graphic arts and the art of the plaster cast), and to the time spent perusing said city's fabled flee markets and venerable museums--an experience that would leave an indelible impression upon Rita, and that in time, would infuse her work with an ever-growing passion for all things antique, and in particular, all things chimney and/or stove-related. Through her unique talent and inexhaustible research (that brings her to visit European countries far away from her native Italy), countless antique stoves, once broken and fragmented, and missing essential components, have been brought back to life, and restored to their original aesthetic splendor. Whether in need of a marble base, a stone pediment, a missing ceramic tile, or a bronze ornament, Rita Tuci possesses the skill and determination to restore virtually any antique stove or chimney mantle--be it sumptuous of modest--and restore it to its original appearance and functionality--a process that requires great passion and knowledge, and one made possible by her ability to resourcefully combine disparate elements into one beautiful, historically accurate and cohesive whole.

Arnold Wiggins & Sons Ltd
31 Bury Street, St James's, London, SW1Y 6AU, England
Arnold Wiggins & Sons are picture framers dealing in antique frames, with a shop in St James’s, London and a workshop that employs the traditional skills of carvers and gilders to make reproduction frames and restore carved and gilded furniture. The Wiggins family were craftsmen-dealers who since the early years of the 20th century collected a stock of antique frames. They established a workshop specialising in the adaption and reproduction of antique frames, and supplied frames to the Royal Household, to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, and private collectors worldwide. The Wiggins picture frame archive provides an historical perspective that is particularly valuable for those wishing to frame an antique painting in an appropriate way. Examples of Arnold Wiggins & Sons’ stock of antique frames might included gilded examples of 17th-century French or 16th-century Italian frames, as well as a good selection of fine 19th-century frames, each carefully and subtly gilded to reflect their period. Michael Gregory trained as a carver and gilder working alongside Jim Wiggins and he maintains the tradition, advising museums, private collectors and dealers on the framing of paintings. Since 1955 the business has the distinction of holding a royal warrant from Her Majesty the Queen, as picture frame makers and suppliers to the Royal Collection.

At the heart of our activity is an attempt torecreate the history of Russian Soviet art of the 1920-60-s at all stages of its development, reflecting traditional and innovative tendencies of that epoch. The main aim of the exhibition projects is to assert the artistic value of the material, to attract interest to the study of this period outside of the socio-political context.
ART DECORUM - Contemporary Art Gallery
ul. Kasztanowa 63a, KRAKOW, 30-238, Poland
Art Decorum Gallery gives professional advice in the field of creating collections of works of art for companies, collectors and private entities. The gallery offers permanent cooperation as to: - searching out objects among bids and collectors - advising on chosen objects, their artistic value and investment profitability - taking care of existing collections of works of art, their digital saving and cataloguing - advising in the area of preservation - acting as an agent in insuring works of art. Art Decorum Gallery, the creator of the first digital catalogue of collections of works of art of the Cracow’s Arts Palace Art of the Beaux-Arts Society in Poland, covering a few thousand objects, offers the following services: - digital cataloguing collections of works of art for companies, collectors and private entities - professional cataloguing, describing and pricing of works of art - preserving works of art - saving works of art on various digital recording devices (CDs, DVDs, mini DVDs, portable hard disks, digital printouts). Currently Art Decorum gallery is digitally cataloguing the collections of works of art owned by BRE BANK SA. 'There are more than 5000 of Corot's works right in the United States.' According to art historians thorough research Corot created about 3000 'works Frank Arnau writes in his books 'The art of forgers - art forgers'. The phenomenon of art forgery occurred when a work of art became a commodity, which was two thousand years ago, and it has been practiced until today. As a matter of fact the practice has thrived because works of art, particularly paintings, have become the most secure investment bearing the highest interest. As a result, the art market is full of sometimes brilliant forgeries of outstanding artists - works which are sold in good faith by reputable galleries and auction houses. The name 'Art Decorum' adopted by the Gallery is an obligation because the term 'decorum' denotes not only beauty and decorativeness but also honesty and responsibility as well as dignity and glory. Works of art offered by Art Decorum are authorized by their creators or have unquestionable and evidenced provenance. Additionally, they are protected by most modern electronic digital systems which enables fast, easy and exact identification in case of theft, which, like forgery, has become more and more frequent nowadays. Art Decorum offers works of popular and recognized artists . Beside works from the leading Gallery of Masters who have an established position in the history of modern art and on the art market, Art Decorum also offers works of artists who undoubtedly will be recognized masters soon. Art Decorum - exceptional artists and an exceptional gallery which fully merits its name. Art critic Jerzy Madeyski REFERENCES: The Cracow Beaux-Arts Society is expressing their gratitude to their member in Cracow, the owner of ART DECORUM gallery, Mr. Przemysław Witek for conducting the first digital cataloguing of works of art which are owned by the Society. The collection comprising a few thousand very precious paintings, engravings, drawings, pieces of furniture, porcelain, old prints, have been professionally documented and digitally saved. In the years 1996 – 2006 Mr. Witek made a comprehensive photographic and digital documentation and prepared, described and catalogued our collection according to our wish. The digital way of retaining data allows for using them for editorial, scientific, educational and exhibiting purposes as well as in the Internet. The modern digital protection prevents from exchanging originals into copies. Yours sincerely, Juliusz Joniak Vice Chairman of the Cracow Beaux-Arts Society BRE Bank SA has been cooperating with ART DECORUM art gallery and its owner Przemysław Witek since December 2009 as far as the project for cataloguing art collections, owned by the bank, is concerned. The project aimed at creating an electronic, multimedia program – a catalogue used for presenting and archiving pieces of art and especially: photographing and preparing descriptions to the objects in the catalogue, indicating their location within the Bank units all over the country, their pricing as well as information on preserving methods. The cooperation revealed ART DECORUM to be a reliable and trustworthy party, showing advanced professionalism and experience in precise, timely realisation of the ordered services. With respect to that, BRE BANK SA declares permanent cooperation with ART DECORUM art gallery. Cooperation with Mr. Witek is to be recommended to all potential clients appreciating professional approach, timeliness and reliability. Administration & Service Dept. Manager Monika Rutka-Żuk

When she was 13 years old, Laura Bosc de Ganay saw a collection of Egyptian art for the first time in Paris. That's when she knew she wanted to work with Egyptian antiquities. She is a young and hard-working antiquities dealer, fascinated by Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Mesopotamian Art. After 10 years in the antiques business, she became a member of IADAA in 2008. Active all over Europe, Bosc de Ganay's main concern is to help collectors find and acquire antiquities that match their taste, She has chosen not to set up a gallery and meet only by appointment in order to be more flexible and incur lower fees. Her items are affordable, and she prefers to exhibit in internationals art fairs. She also likes to introduce new collectors to Egyptian Art, helping them create beautiful and organic collections, based on their taste and budget, establishing long=term working relationships. Bosc de Ganay believes that fine execution, good-quality material and provenance make an artwork's strength rather than its price.

Ben Brown Fine Arts
52 Brook's Mews, London, W1K 4EE, England/United Kingdom
Ben Brown began his career at Sotheby's, where he spent 10 years in the Contemporary Art department, reaching the level of director. During his time there he pioneered the now well-respected Italian Sale, and his particular interest in the subject led Brown to concentrate on this little-represented field in London. Following Sotheby's and prior to opening Ben Brown Fine Arts, Brown spent two years as co-managing director at Waddington Galleries. BEN BROWN FINE ARTS Ben Brown Fine Arts opened its first location on Cork Street in the heart of Mayfair in 2004. The gallery has prominently positioned itself on the contemporary art scene with the sole UK representation of artists such as Ron Arad, Tony Bevan, Candida Höfer, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Gavin Turk, Not Vital and Heinz Mack. Also renowned for its strong expertise in 20th Century Italian Art, the gallery has been exhibiting the work of Lucio Fontana and Alighiero Boetti, amongst others, since its inception. In 2008 Ben Brown Fine Arts opened a new exhibition space on Brook's Mews, also in Mayfair, designed by architect Alexander Maybank. The office and viewing room is conveniently located across from the gallery space. In 2009 the gallery took the first step in an international expansion with the opening of an exhibition space in Hong Kong under the label of Ben Brown Fine Arts. Designed by Andre Fu, Brown's Hong Kong space was the first London gallery to open in the Pedder Building, offering a programme of western and international art exhibitions tailored to the Asian market. Since its inception the Hong Kong gallery has hosted exhibitions of gallery artists Ron Arad, Miquel Barceló, Candida Höfer, Vik Muniz, Heinz Mack and Claude & François-Xavier Lalanne as well as presenting exhibitions of important modern artists, most notably Pablo Picasso and Alighiero Boetti Artists: Ron Arad, Jean Michel Basquiat, Tony Bevan, Alighiero Boetti, Dokoupil, Caio Fonseca, Lucio Fontana, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Candida Höfer, Yves Klein, Jeff Koons, Les Lalanne, Sol Lewitt, Martin Mull, Vik Muniz, Heribert C.Ottersbach, Mimmo Rotella, Thomas Ruff, Matthias Schaller, Clare Shenstone, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Donald Sultan, Tseng Kwong Chi, Andy Warhol,

Bentley & Skinner
55 Piccadilly, London, United Kingdom, W1J
Bentley & Skinner have between them been buying and selling jewellery for over 180 years, specialising in fine antique jewels, Fabergé and silver. Bentley & Co was first established at No 65 New Bond Street in 1934. For over 50 years the company was under the sole direction of the present director’s late uncle, John Sheldon, a connoisseur of Russian descent whose magnificent collection of jewels created world-wide interest when sold through Sotheby’s in 1985. Skinner & Co was established in 1880 and has been in the same family for three generations. The company was first invited to supply jewellery to the Royal Family in the latter years of Queen Victoria’s reign. Under the leadership of its existing Managing Director, Mark Evans, this family business recently moved from its premises in the Burlington Arcade to a large shop in Piccadilly, offering clients an excellent opportunity to view the displays of their wide range of stock, from art deco brooches to Victorian diamond necklaces. The company also carries out insurance and probate valuations. Other services include repairs, the re-modelling of old jewellery, pearl-stringing, engraving and bespoke jewellery commissions – a famous example being Damien Hirst’s diamond skull ‘For the Love of God’. They are also happy to offer on the part-exchange or purchase of jewellery and silver. Bentley & Skinner have the distinction of holding royal warrants to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.

Bentleys is a true destination shop; a treasure-trove of the unexpected. Since Tim Bent founded the company in 1989, we have specialised in finding antique English leather accessories and travel goods, beautifully made silver from the Edwardian era and the finest vintage trunks from the great French houses of Louis Vuitton, Goyard and Hermès. We are passionate and knowledgeable about the items that we sell and love to share that enthusiasm with our customers. We like nothing more than putting a pieceinto the hands of a customer and sharing its history. Detail, craft and patina fascinate us and are evident in all of our stock from a 1920′s pocket roulette wheel to an aluminium wingtip desk.

Berganza Ltd
88-90 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8PN, United Kingdom
At Berganza, we pride ourselves on having one of the most extensive collections of antique rings in the world. As a family-run business, we also believe in a 'service for life' approach. We supply only the finest quality pieces available, and ensure all our gems are natural untreated stones without enhancements. What's more, we source just those rings that represent the very best of every period. From Roman, Byzantine and Georgian to Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco. Not to mention, the retro fashions of the 1940s and 1950s. In short, when you purchase a piece of fine vintage jewellery from Berganza, you are investing in a rarity. Each article was handmade by a craftsman at a time when there was no mass production of gemstone rings and jewellers considered themselves artists. It's no coincidence, therefore, that we are proud sponsors of the prestigious Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Awards, and have been for the last twenty years, in support of the enduring craftsmanship within the jewellery trade. The team at Berganza combine experience with vision, practical expertise with academic excellence. A family business, our most important shared characteristic is a passionate devotion to antique jewellery. Our profound understanding of gemstones, supported by our extensive knowledge of the heritage of jewellery design, ensures that we are uniquely placed to select only the very finest for our collection, and to help our customers make informed choices in investing in pieces which, in many cases, will become their own heirloom. With a service that is unrivalled by any, we are confident that when you buy from us, you are buying peace of mind.

Chilcompton BA3 4HP, United Kingdom
Billiard Room Ltd was established in 1993 to find and restore the most desirable pool, snooker and billiard tables. An expert player, owner Paul McKeivor is well aware that an antique table must not only be restored properly but also play correctly. All of our Billiard/Snooker tables are restored in the South West of England using traditional methods and high quality materials, each piece being given personal attention by an experienced craftsman. We are extremely fastidious when considering the purchase of a table, and only buy one for perhaps every fifty offered. A table must have an element that elevates it from the ordinary, either in the design, timber quality or provenance.

I have been dealing in antique and old tribal rugs, dowry weavings and decorative carpets from the Near East and Central Asia since 1979. From 1972-1977 I lived and worked in Iran, spending the best part of a year amongst two tribal groups, the Afshar of Kerman province and the Qashqa’i of Fars, making me fortunate enough to be one of the few world dealers to have spent time ‘in the field’. I also travelled extensively throughout Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey and in 1990 I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society for my work amongst the Persian Tribes. I have returned to Iran several times in recent years, travelling, sourcing and collecting exclusive weavings. I have been a lecturer for NADFAS (The Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies) since 1986. The second edition of my book Tribal Rugs – Treasures of the Black Tent was reprinted in April 2010 and sadly went out of print in September 2014. I am hoping an up-dated re-print will be forthcoming this year. For 16 years I owned the well reputed Samarkand Galleries in Stow-on-the-Wold, eventually selling the premises in 2005. Today, I continue to work from my base in the English Cotswolds as a dealer, consultant and lecturer, always stocking an exquisite inventory of antique rugs, dowry bags and carpets from the tribes and villages of Persia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Central Asia. What is extremely important to me is quality rather than quantity. I actively travel throughout the UK sourcing exceptional pieces for clients throughout the world. I am continually ‘finding’ quality antique stock and the items illustrated on this website are by no means my entire inventory. Therefore, if you are looking for something specific, please do not hesitate to let me know your requirements and I will contact you with photographs and ideas to help you find that truly special piece.

Burlington Paintings was founded in 1981 and is currently run by Angela and Paul Hardy who between them have over 60 years' experience working in fine art and antiques. Burlington Paintings is now one of the few galleries in the heart of Mayfair to specialise in 19th- and 20th-century British and European oil paintings. The gallery is situated in the heart of Mayfair close to the Royal Academy and Savile Row, and its deceptively extensive galleries are part of the historic Albany buildings by Holland, dating from the Regency period. The gallery consists of two 18th-century pavilions at the rear of Albany Estate. First impressions of the gallery are deceptive, as there are three further rooms in the basement converted out of the 18th-century cellars.

Calton Gallery
46 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 3NH, Scotland
Founded by Andrew & Sarah Whitfield in 1980, and originally located in Royal Terrace, Edinburgh, the Calton Gallery has been dealing in Scottish, English & European fine art for over 30 years. They offer a friendly and professional expertise to aid the experienced collector and first-timer alike in the acquisition of fine art. The nineteenth century features prominently, as do works by Scottish artists. A particular feature of the gallery’s stock is its range of carefully selected watercolours, many of which delicately capture the distinctive play of light that defines many Scottish landscapes. Following Sarah Whitfield’s tragic untimely death in 1998, the Calton Gallery moved from its family home and spacious gallery in 2003 and no longer stages the frequent exhibitions it had become so well known for throughout Scotland and beyond. However, Andrew continues to deal from home at 46 Queen Street, close to Dundas Street, where most of Edinburgh’s art galleries are located. Their online catalogue also shows much, though not all, of their extensive range of fine art which can be bought online as well as in the gallery.

Cambridge Fine Art Ltd
71 High Street, Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire CB22 5ES, United Kingdom
Cambridge Fine Art was first established in Trumpington Street, Cambridge in 1971. We deal in high quality, mainly British paintings from renowned artists. The majority of our paintings are from the Victorian era. We sell affordable art in a friendly environment. In the 1970's we were founder exhibitors at the Olympia Antiques Fairs, and at the National Exhibition Centre Fairs in the 1980's, where we continue to regularly exhibit. In 1986 we moved to Little Shelford, where we had extensive showrooms for fine paintings. We now exhibit widely at the major Antique Fairs, but also show our paintings at a number of Antique Centres and with Furniture dealers around the country. We have a large selection of fine oil paintings on show most of the year at various centres around the UK, including Rutland Arms Antique Centre in Bakewell, Gloucester Quays Antique Centre and Walton House Antiques in Wiltshire. We are also happy to advise you on art.
Camburn Fine Art France
La Roche Rigault, France
After an arts-orientated education at King's School Canterbury and Oriel College Oxford, in 1979 Stephen Camburn trained as an art dealer at Windsor & Eton Fine Art specialising in the paintings and prints of John Piper and other modern British and contemporary artists. After twenty years in art publishing which included fine art, antiques and the applied arts, Stephen Camburn established Camburn Fine Art; and in 2008 moved to France, south of the Loire Valley where the gallery is now based. Stephen Camburn exhibits regularly in London Mayfair, as well as the LAPADA Art and Antiques Fair in Berkeley Square, the Chelsea Art Fair, and Works on Paper. As a result, he has built up a loyal circle of clients and collectors worldwide from Delhi to Buenos Aires. The galleries in France, based just south of the Loire Valley, are open by appointment; and here clients can view a large selection of art works by a number of artists. The artists Stephen Camburn represents demonstrate a thorough technical mastery of the medium as well as genuine inspiration which can stand comparison with museum-quality art of today and tomorrow. The insistence on superb technique is the sine qua non of all work promoted by the gallery since it is only through technical mastery that creative risks can be taken: for example, the compelling assymetry of Peyrat's large ceramic vessels, the dramatic brushwork of Halliday's canvases, or the sharp focus and colouring of Texier's pastel painting.

Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc.
Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc.
P.O. Box 210 Planetarium Station, New York, NY, 10024, USA
Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc. is a private antique furniture dealer in New York City specializing exclusively in top quality American formal furniture and decorative accessories of the first forty years of the 19th century, referred to as the Classical period. The first classical revival since the Renaissance, profoundly influencing European art, architecture and all the decorative and applied arts beginning in the 2nd quarter of the 18th century, began to effect American furniture design in the same years that the United States was becoming a nation, hence the terms 'Federal' and 'Classical' furniture. It was this taste for designs inspired by ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt, as translated from English and French furniture design directories and pattern books by American cabinetmakers, which created the longest lived, most popular, most influential and, arguably, the most important period of American creativity and craftsmanship in our furniture making history. The mission of Carswell Rush Berlin is to bring to the market important high-style examples from this classical period of Adam, Directoire, Empire and French Restauration furniture made in America's leading fashion and furniture-making centers, Salem, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore in the years 1800-1840. We focus on pieces ordered from the greatest designers and cabinetmakers by the wealthiest strata of American society of the period. The firm's approach is highly selective, only buying for inventory examples that meet a high standard of design excellence, craftsmanship, quality of materials, original condition and rarity. We are continually seeking to buy period examples of every form that meet these standards and welcome photographs sent by e-mail. Each piece is extensively researched with the description supplied in writing. We offer to our clients an unconditional guarantee that each piece is as described. Mr. Berlin has lectured at New York University's School of Continuing Education where he is an adjunct professor. Mr. Berlin offers a course at NYU each Spring on early 19th century American furniture. He has lectured at the Parsons School of Design in New York, the prestigious Williamsburg Forum, the Detroit Institute of Art, The Saint Louis Museum of Art, The Baltimore Museum of Art, Boscobel and the symposium on American Classical Furniture at the Yale University Art Gallery. His furniture has been featured in The Magazine ANTIQUES, Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Art & Auction, and Veranda Magazine. His essay entitled 'Solid and Permanent Grandeur: The Design Roots of American Classical Furniture' is featured in the show catalogue for the International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show in NYC, October 18th-24th, 2002. His article 'An Important Rosewood and Cast-Iron Gueridon Attributed to Duncan Phyfe' was published in The Magazine ANTIQUES, May 2000 issue (Vol. CLVII, NO. 5) pages 770-777. Mr. Berlin's article 'Classical Furniture in Federal Philadelphia' was published in Antiques & Fine Art Magazine, Spring 2007 vol. VII, Issue 5, p.192-199. Read the article online. His new article on the Philadelphia cabinetmakers COOK & PARKIN is planned for publication in 2012. He is also writing a comprehensive guide to formal American furniture of the first half of the 19th century. Mr. Berlin serves on the Board of Trustees of The Long Island Museum of American Art, History and Carriages, (formerly The Museums at Stony Brook) (NY) and Spoleto Festival USA (Charleston, S.C.) He is a member of the prestigious National Antiques and Art Dealers Association of America (NAADAA) and the Antique Dealers Association of America (ADA). Catherine Hunt Oriental Antiques
PO Box 743, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL52 5ZB
Catherine (Cathy) Hunt established her business in 1988 taking the decision to base the business around the quality antique fairs circuit. The business has always been centred on Oriental antiques, more specifically pre-1780 Chinese ceramics and pre-1900 Chinese textiles; these two disciplines Cathy has always been passionate about. Although dealing as a sole trader Cathy has grown her business into an international company, achieved by careful selection of pieces to sell and by helping some collectors to develop fine collections. Cathy left Oxford University with a degree in Modern History, which encompasses everything from when the Romans left to the modern day. It is the love of research and Chinese ceramics which brought her into the antique trade and which still keeps her busy writing articles and doing presentations which uses her skills that were developed when she taught History to A level. Today she still deals in Oriental antiques on the international fair circuit but primarily off her own web site and the BADA website.

English antique furniture is the ultimate in classic design. Whether a George II period walnut bureau bookcase or a Regency period writing table, our selection of English antiques forms a resonant touchstone for both the collector and the interior designer. Through our years of collecting, we have brought our own careful judgment to the selection of both English antiques and select continental pieces. We strive to make each piece speak for itself as an excellent example of its type. Our passion is the Georgian period. Although we endeavor to understand each of our furniture pieces in their original context, you will find our selection of antiques a wonderful addition to any modern lifestyle. We supplement our selection of antiques with exquisite artwork and our own collection of contemporary furniture, ‘Contemporary Classics’. Find out why Architectural Digest has called our galleries of English antiques ‘a destination for connoisseurs’.

Originally known as ‘The Kaplan Gallery’ and based in London in the 1950s, the business joined forces with the Cider House Galleries, an art warehouse owned by the Roberts family, in 1971. Tony and Helen are the second generation to run the gallery. The Cider House Galleries hold a large stock of oil paintings depicting a large variety of subjects including portraits, still lives, animal and botanical scenes, seascapes and landscapes. Tony and Helen Roberts are also happy to source pieces for clients and have assisted in many important and often unusual acquisitions. They successfully sourced the tables and chairs for the first G8 summit and found, acquired and shipped a birthday present of a Rodin sculpture for a head of state. The Cider House Galleries have also supplied pieces to the British, Dutch and Saudi royal families. PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE

Claudia Hill at Ellison Fine Art
By appointment in Battersea, London
Ellison Fine Art has been established for over 12 years and specialises in selling fine English and Continental portrait miniatures and silhouettes from the 16th century through to the middle of the 19th century. The firm carries an extensive range of stock, to appeal to the beginner, as well as to the more established collector. Each portrait is chosen for the quality, condition and “collectability” factor. The firm is always available to give advice to anyone interested in forming a collection, including help with how to display and store the portrait miniatures and how to buy with confidence. Working from her residence in Beaconsfield, the business is run by Claudia Hill, who has specialised in portrait miniatures and silhouettes for 30 years. She was formerly the specialist in portrait miniatures for Christie’s for ten years, followed by ten years at Bonhams. She has appeared on national television and radio as a leading expert in her field of collecting and has lectured many times for NADFAS on both portrait miniatures and silhouettes. Claudia has also served on numerous antique fair vetting committees over the years, including for Clarion Events fairs held in London and Birmingham, Art Antiques London, Grosvenor House and, more recently, Masterpiece. Claudia is a member of the Company of Arts Scholars, Dealers and Collectors.

English antique furniture is more than a sum of its parts, but the parts are often varied and different so that the whole seems disconcertingly complex. There is a logic, of sorts, to English furniture, but there are also delightful eccentricities. I revel in them and will, for example, buy a great country piece as readily as a great high style piece, despite the obvious differences in decorative appeal. It is great furniture that appeals to me—it has to be special. I have been in this business in one form or another for thirty-nine years and there has never been a moment when I have wanted to do something else. Please browse, ask questions and, best of all, come and visit. I guarantee that you will find great beauty herein.

Clive Loveless - 'Primal Art'
London W10
A dealer for over 40 years, Clive Loveless, was initially partnered with David Black at their internationally renowned Holland Park, London gallery where they specialised in Near Eastern tribal rugs, kilim tapestries and textiles. They held many exhibitions with accompanying illustrated catalogues while also working with Nicholas Serota at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1977 on The Undiscovered Kilim exhibition and with Sir David Attenborough on one of his Tribal Eye TV series in 1979 entitled Woven Gardens. Since amicably splitting with his partner in the mid ’80s Clive has worked by appointment from his home in North Kensington and has diversified his interest in, as he describes it, “focussed eclecticism”, moving into abstract tribal artefact and textile fields from Africa to Oceania, while still cultivating one of his early specialisations in the little known area of rare pre-1850 dowry tapestries from the Skane area of southern Sweden. Another particularly important focus over the last 15 years has been the “woven sculpture” of the early prestige basketry of the Tutsi people of Rwanda and Burundi. This has culminated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York recently acquiring from him an early basketry woven screen featured in their Recent Acquisitions: 2008-2010 bulletin, while many of his Tutsi baskets and Congo fibre textiles have been featured in the Weaving Abstraction exhibition at The Textile Museum, Washington D.C.

Konrad O. Bernheimer belongs to the fourth generation of one of Europe’s major art dealing families. Founded in Munich in 1864 by his great-grandfather, Lehmann Bernheimer, the firm opened as a shop for textiles and oriental carpets before expanding to include Italian Renaissance furniture, French antiques, tapestries, porcelain and other objets d’art. By 1900 Bernheimer Fine Old Masters had become purveyors to the Court of Bavaria, and included European aristocracy and American magnates among their clients. In 1939 the Nazis forced the Bernheimers into exile in North and South America. Otto Bernheimer returned to Germany shortly after the Second World War to claim the family’s property and resume its business activities. His grandson Konrad took over the business in 1977. Under his directorship, the gallery began to develop an interest in Old Masters, specialising in European schools from the 16th to the 19th century. In 2002, Konrad O. Bernheimer acquired the internationally-renowned gallery Colnaghi, thus uniting two long-standing and distinguished art dealerships. Founded in 1760, Colnaghi soon received royal patronage and established itself as the premier dealership for prints. By the end of the 19th century the firm had begun dealing in Old Master paintings and was instrumental in the formation of some of the most important American collections, including that of Isabella Stewart Gardener, Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Mellon. The twentieth century saw Colnaghi establish a reputation as specialists in all periods of Italian painting, although northern European paintings have also played an important part of Colnaghi’s dealing activities. Under the Colnaghi umbrella, Bernheimer joined forces with Old Master drawings dealer Katrin Bellinger and together they acquired the renowned Colnaghi library and archives. Both galleries exhibit together at several international art fairs, including Masterpiece London, the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris and TEFAF in Maastricht, where Konrad Bernheimer has been the chairman of the Pictura since 2004. Since 2003 the gallery has also included photography of the 19th and 20th centuries in its programme, a new development in the firm’s long history. Creating a dialogue between Old Master paintings and photography, the gallery rooms in Munich’s Brienner Strasse 7 host changing exhibitions. Many of the foremost European and American museums, as well as private collectors from all over the world, number among Bernheimer–Colnaghi's clients.
