CINOA has submitted comments to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) in response to the consultation on the proposed mechanism to promote reciprocal managed trade with China.

In its submission, CINOA emphasises that works of art, antiques, collectors’ pieces and other cultural goods classified under Chapter 97 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule are distinct from industrial and strategic products. CINOA therefore recommends that these goods remain outside the scope of reciprocal tariff measures and continue to benefit from Most Favoured Nation (MFN) tariff treatment.

CINOA remains committed to engaging constructively with governments to ensure that trade measures are proportionate and support the lawful international circulation of cultural goods.
