John Spink, based in London, has long been known as a dealer in watercolours by artists of note from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He particularly specialises in artists who were members of the Royal Society of Watercolours.
John has over forty years of experience, having started dealing in the early 1970s with his father, Marshall Spink, a renowned art and Old Master expert. He concentrates on pictures of great quality and condition, following in the tradition of the Spink family, whose family business dates from the middle of the seventeenth century, when another John Spink created one of the oldest surviving antique dealing concerns still existing in London today.
John deals at fairs and privately by appointment. In recent years he has placed considerable emphasis on his carefully-researched exhibitions and their accompanying illustrated catalogues, which have included “Europe Through the Eyes of the English Watercolourist”, “John Varley (1778-1842)” and “Francis Towne and his Friends”.
John is a regular exhibitor at Art Antiques London and the BADA Fair.
