Robert Stoppenbach and François Delestre founded the gallery in London in 1982. It specialises in leading French artists from Barbizon, Impressionism, post-Impressionism and the Belle Epoque amongst others, spanning the 19th and early 20th century.
Newly located at 17 Ryder Street, St James's, the gallery was at 25 Cork Street in the West End for 32 years. We are in close proximity to other major galleries and auction houses.
Stoppenbach & Delestre has close contacts all over the world and has sold to major museums such as the National Gallery of Art, Washington, the Fine Arts Museums of San Fransisco, the Brooklyn Museum, the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, the National Gallery of Scotland, the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Tate Gallery, London.
Robert Stoppenbach is an expert on André Derain and is a member of the Comité Derain, advising on authentification of Derain’s works. François Delestre is both the leading expert on Charles François Daubigny and sits on the board of the Comité Jongkind.
The gallery participates in The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht, the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris and London Art Week.
The gallery hosts regular exhibitions and is open for authentifications and valuations.
