Historia Mundi rara & curiosa
We offer antiquarian books in the field of broadly understood natural history (including medicine and herbal treatment), exact science (mathematics, physics and logic), as well as history and literature, published mostly from the Renaissance to 1939. We offer books in a pristine condition, in contemporary bindings or modern bindings, stylized as old ones, books in publishing bindings, rare brochures, offprints of important articles, complete yearbooks of magazines, containing important articles, reviews or polemics, as well as popular science editions with a beautiful graphic design, addressed to children and adolescents. We pay special attention to the first editions, signed copies, interesting provenance and beautifully illustrated editions.

Wir bieten antiquarische Bücher aus den Bereichen Naturgeschichte im weiteren Sinne (einschließlich Medizin und Kräuterbehandlung), exakte Wissenschaft (Mathematik, Physik und Logik) sowie Geschichte und Literatur an, die größtenteils von der Renaissance bis 1939 veröffentlicht wurden. Wir bieten Bücher in makelloser Zustand, in zeitgenössischen Einbänden oder modernen Einbänden, stilisiert als alte, Bücher in Verlagseinbänden, seltene Broschüren, Sonderdrucke wichtiger Artikel, komplette Jahrbücher von Zeitschriften, die wichtige Artikel, Rezensionen oder Polemiken enthalten, sowie populärwissenschaftliche Ausgaben mit schöner grafischer Gestaltung, die sich an Kinder und Jugendliche richten. Besonderes Augenmerk legen wir auf Erstausgaben, signierte Exemplare, interessante Provenienz und wunderschön illustrierte Ausgaben.

Creator and owner of the antiquarian service Historia Mundi rara & curiosa; Doctor of Humanities in the field of bibliology and information science (book studies) (University of Wrocław) – author of the dissertation The Gdańsk Natural History Book of the 18th Century: Illustrated Prints from the T.J. Schreiber Press (2016), which received distinction in the competition of the Polish Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Member of the Association of Polish Antiquarians and Art Dealers and of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (CINOA). Graduate in philosophy (University of Warsaw); laureate of the Polish National Olympiad in Polish Language and Literature (high school level, for work on the literary and graphic art of Bruno Schulz).
Author of encyclopedia entries and scholarly articles published, among others, in Encyklopedia Książki (Wrocław 2017), Analecta. Studies and Materials for the History of Science, Porta Aurea. Yearbook of the Institute of Art History of the University of Gdańsk, Acta Universitatis Wratislaviensis, Roczniki Biblioteczne, Bibliotekoznawstwo, and Przegląd Geologiczny (as co-author).
His research interests include literature, philosophy, bibliology, the history of the natural sciences in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 17th and 18th centuries, natural history illustration (17th–19th centuries), and the reception of evolutionism in Polish lands (19th century).
Author of a bibliophilic and historical crime novel in statu nascendi, serialized in Historia Mundi rara & curiosa (fragments and an outline of the novel received an award in a competition organized by Agora Publishing). For twenty-five years he has combined intellectual pursuits with active participation in the bibliophile market.

Tomasz Kaleta
Graduate of a classical-profile class at the Stefan Żeromski First Secondary School in Kielce; by education a computer engineer specializing in cryptography; by passion a regionalist, collector, and a restless spirit fascinated by solving bibliophilic mysteries. Author of historical articles published in: “Świętokrzyskie – Environment, Cultural Heritage, Regional Education” and “Museum and Historical Studies. Yearbook of the Museum of the History of Kielce.” His interests include the culture of ancient Rome, the history of Poland in the 18th and 19th centuries, Baroque art and architecture, and the cultural heritage of the Świętokrzyskie region, with particular emphasis on monuments and the traditions of Old Polish mining and metallurgy. For twenty-five years, he has been an observer and active participant in the bibliophile market.
